This is our adventure from Montana to Southern Nevada in our partially-completed camper-in-a-uhaul, Feb. to Apr, 2011. We hope to accomplish two things: 1) To show how people with almost no money beyond gas money can afford to "Snowbird" south in winter, and 2) to see if we can plan ahead for 2 to 3 months of food and other supplies, as an experimental bug-out.
We will also try out some primitive methods of doing things, such as making charcoal, yucca soap, and flint knapping.

A scary sight (March 9)
This is the gas prices today in Overton, Nevada.
It'll probably get worse.
In another month we'll be driving a vehicle that gets around 8 to 10 MPG,
