Progress

We worked and worked this afternoon, after the fiasco of being on the phone and internet most of the morning with insurance companies. In a short time Steven had the bed frame finished, I had the buckets loaded, and then I brought out the mattress and some of the sleeping bags we plan to spread on it.

Here I am, testing it out! I gave it my stamp of approval. Very comfy.

Meanwhile under the bed, I had to secure the buckets from sudden movements that might make them come tumbling down.
Baling Twine: like duct tape...more uses than you can imagine!
We'll see if it's strong enough to hold the buckets in place.
I stuck cans of hot chocolate mix along in front of the buckets, and put the kayak paddles in under there too. Steven is going to put a board along the front, about a foot high, to hold things in at the bottom.


I pulled the plastic off my mobile garden to see if the soil was still damp, and I got a surprise!
The lettuce is up. You can see spindly little plants in the front pot.
In the rear right pot the pea seed in the middle is sprouted and the tiny plant is just about to push through the soil. If you look close, or enlarge the picture, you can see it!


Steven replaced some of the marker lights that were broken.


Now you can see the ladder sitting on the snow!

He put a new wiring harness on so we can plug in the lights on the trailer.

I hauled a lot of the stuff out of the house this afternoon and just dumped it up on the bed for now. Tomorrow we'll take that ugly work table out and lay the linoleum, then I can move in "the furniture" and organize everything else.

The battery in the engine compartment was dead, so Steven ran the generator and the battery charger this afternoon. Then he started it up, and it sounded good. When it used to be a real Uhaul truck they kept maintenance records and it looks like they kept it in good shape.

When we bought it, it was owned by Habitat for Humanity in Kalispell. They also took very good care of it while they owned it. They put tires on it that are in such good shape they're almost worth more than the uhaul itself!
