Gypsy Sue Buggin' out

This is our adventure from Montana to Southern Nevada in our partially-completed camper-in-a-uhaul, Feb. to Apr, 2011. We hope to accomplish two things: 1) To show how people with almost no money beyond gas money can afford to "Snowbird" south in winter, and 2) to see if we can plan ahead for 2 to 3 months of food and other supplies, as an experimental bug-out. We will also try out some primitive methods of doing things, such as making charcoal, yucca soap, and flint knapping.

Sunburn and sweat

Today in Overton, Nevada it's supposed to be around 70.

I don't know how warm it is, but right now at noon, it's definitely shirt-sleeve weather

for those of us from Montana!

Ahhhhhhh....

Gas was as low as $2.79 and as high as $3.39. Cheaper in Montana and Idaho, higher in Utah and Nevada. The uhaul gets pretty poor gas mileage, but it did improve when we got into warmer weather coming down through Utah. We got as little as 5 mpg driving around Kalispell while visiting the kids, and as much as 11 mpg on good stretches without hills or wind.

Now we'll park the uhaul for the next couple months and use our 50-mpg motorcycle as a run-around vehicle, as well as our bicycles.

Mwahahahaha! It isn't a lie! There's lots of green grass here...all over the place...and I can walk on it and touch it and smell it! Heh heh, YOU can't! Nya-nya
